WHO AM I AND WHY SHOULD YOU CARE?

To any leader that would visit my blog; WELCOME.

I am passionate about leadership and helping you become a more effective leader. I am also passionate about the wisdom that is available in an ancient book called the Proverbs of Solomon. He was recognized as the wisest man of his generation and, some say, of all time and I believe, as value driven leaders, we have a lot to learn from this King of Israel.

About me: I spent 30 years of my life in pastoral ministry, leading churches as large as 1600 people in weekly attendance and a staff of as many as 20 people and 600 volunteers. From that I learned a lot about effective communication, working through leaders, and how to create passion in unpaid workers who only reason for doing what they are doing is the sense of vision and mission we gave them.
After 2011, I entered the coaching field and learned more about how to help other leaders reach their full potential and overcome challenges and barriers to success. I have experience as a business coach, a life coach, a financial coach and a business start up coach (entrepreneurship principles and business plan creation).
I also have have hard won experience in my personal life. I grew up with a handicap. I contracted polio at 1 1/2 and have worn a brace on my left leg all of my life. I have been married for 34 years to my lovely wife Gloria but I also know what it is to work on having a good, long term relationship. I have 5 children, 4 girls and 1 boy so I understand family dynamics and the challenges of raising good kids. My only son, Samuel, has Down's Syndrome. He is now 20 years old and we are working to find meaning work for him. Dealing with the unique difficulties and joys of parenting a disabled child is an another whole area to learn and grow in.
I am 60 years old and ready to help. I have hard won experience and I am still learning but ready to share. I invite you to join me in my journey of discovery.
